Bowl

BY  Naoki Asano

$200 USD

Featuring an intricate, hand-crafted icchin drawing along its rim, the Naoki Asano Bowl is a masterwork of pure porcelain marked by its subtly textured edges and milky, lustrous finish.

Naoki Asano’s Bowl is made of porcelain the master Japanese ceramicist crafts himself at his small studio in Kutani. Each bowl is individually wheel-thrown, sculpted, and finished entirely by hand. Using a thin tool with a needle-like point and his own signature mixture of kaolin and pottery stone, Asano paints a delicate, raised, three-dimensional pattern on the plate before firing it—an elaborate, time-consuming technique known as “icchin.”
