Descended from a long line of ceramic masters, Naoki Asano forges singular handmade porcelain from his studio in Kutani, Japan. To craft his dinnerware, he creates an “icchin” drawing of kaolin and pottery stone, pressing it into a handbuilt mold to imprint three-dimensional designs on his subtly colored porcelain that is then fired, clear glazed, and fired again.
