Naoya Arakawa
Kyoto, Japan

Est. 1953
GLASS ARTIST, FREE-BLOWN

Glass with the qualities of water, Arakawa draws endless inspiration from nature, especially from a stream near his workshop. He blows his glass pieces using traditional Japanese techniques, and they are meant to reflect the surrounding landscape and change with the light. He is a mentor to many young artists at his Seikousha Glass Studio in the mountains of Kyoto and has been crafting his mastery of blown glass since 1978.
