An extremely limited-edition design, Shimizu Glass Co.’s Yarai Kagome Wine Glass is a sterling example of Edo kiriko cut glass from masters of the ancient art form, who have been practicing it for more than 100 years. Meticulously hand-blown and cut with interwoven, traditional Japanese motifs, it is crafted by a team of exceptional glassmakers in a small workshop in Tokyo with timeless patterns and rich coloration. The “kagome,” motif evokes basketweaving—a symbol of protection—emphasized by the deep burgundy produced by blending copper particles into the glass.
