Susumu Jo

Susumu Jo was born in Osaka in 1971.  By the time he was 29 years old, he had traveled to 50 countries.  His experiences in the world influence his work as well as his studies at the Kyoto Seika University Faculty of Fine Arts and Design.  Jo’s ceramics have great structure, depth, and diversity, reflecting strength and vibrancy.  His vases at the Guild are iron-painted vessels inspired by his time in West Africa and the clay he saw there.
