Yuki Osako practices the alchemy of glass to translate her surroundings, like the pure snow on an untouched rice field or the winter’s light through a window. Balancing on the fulcrum of form and function, Yuki handcrafts her glassworks by phases of blowing, grinding, cutting and burning the glass in a kiln; achieving her geometry with trial and error. Whether frosted like a misty morning or transparent, there’s an attention to detail that reveals exquisite gradients of texture. Yuki constantly studies, gaining a deeper understanding of the material she uses, experiencing the feeling that the glass is breathing back to her during her work.
Amber Shot Glass
BY Yuki Osako
$240 USD
Osako’s faceted glassware collection is produced through a deeply involved multi-step process. Her handblown pieces achieve a cohesive colorway with individual marbling that dances across the glass’s smoked finish when she rolls at least three colors onto the hot glasses one by one. After hand-cutting and hand-polishing her pieces, she finishes each one with a second firing, where the artist further polishes the glass and creates their signature gradient with heat.
Handwash.
