Dinner Plate No. 01
BY Naoki Asano
$260 USD
Featuring an intricate, hand-crafted icchin drawing along its rim, Naoki Asano’s Dinner Plate No. 1 is a masterwork of pure porcelain marked by its subtly textured edges and milky, lustrous finish.
Naoki Asano’s Dinner Plate No. 1 is made of porcelain the master Japanese ceramicist crafts himself at his small studio in Kutani. Each plate is individually wheel-thrown, sculpted, and finished entirely by hand. Using a thin tool with a needle-like point and his own signature mixture of kaolin and pottery stone, Asano paints a delicate, raised, three-dimensional pattern on the plate before firing it—an elaborate, time-consuming technique known as “icchin.”
