Fukiya
Kyoto, Japan

Fukiya glassware is made by the assistants training under Naoya Arakawa at his Harukosha Glass Studio.  Reusing the glass from Naoya Arakawa’s own line, Fukiya glassware possesses a slightly green hue because it contains iron from the glass working tools.  Naoya is a master glassblower who does not believe in wasting limited resources. In an effort to reduce the use of fossil fuels, the Fukiya team also reuses Tempura Oil to fuel their fire.  Due to the difficulty of working with Tempura Oil, there is a lot of trial and error, but the end result reflects a natural energy that is vibrant and alive in an exquisite thickness that is palatable.
