The Lab telescoping floor lamp is our archetypal version of a library light, and a physical realization of our appetite for weight and gravity. At 23 pounds, it is the most substantial of our lighting offerings, hand-crafted from solid brass that is painstakingly melted, cast and folded to achieve a striking, confident silhouette. Each element -- from the double-headed curved directional shades to the pulls, anchor chain and stud, and the dimmer switch -- is custom made in a 150-year-old French workshop, in a selection of alloys with our Roman and Williams Guild Living Finishes and handblown glass.

About the Designers
Stephen Alesch and Robin Standefer are the founders and principals of Roman and Williams, Roman and Williams Guild, La Mercerie, and Guild Gallery. In addition to finding and assembling the world’s most prodigious artists for their modern guild of the senses, the husband-and-wife team prolifically makes, creates, and leads. In their work, nature serves as a timeless source of inspiration for the future of how we live.

Double-headed curved shades are directional and rotate; the height is manually adjusted using a custom-made solid brass pin with anchor chain.
At once muscular and svelte, Lab is a modern heirloom, designed to last for generations.
Subtle but crucial details include a black porcelain socket, custom made knurled dimmer switch and twisted fabric power cord with foot pedal switch.
