San Francisco bred, Filipino-American, Agelio Batle’s curious mind makes him an inventor.  He likes to elevate mundane objects to the sublime. Though Agelio graduated with a degree in Biology in 1986, his passion for the arts has made him a sculptor, designer, seeking “poetry in the pedestrian”.  Late one night, while drawing in his studio, his hands became covered with graphite and he had an epiphany that it is the hand that draws, not the pencil. For the next year, he began creating his own process of molding graphite that won’t stain and is hand finished with exquisite detail in his studio.

“We discover things about ourselves and our thoughts by engaging the hand in a mark-making process.”
