For over 25 years, Maddalena Forcella has been developing relationships with artisans in Chiapas and Oaxaca. In 2016 she joined forces with Marie Farneth to create Madda Studio – a collaborative textile design studio. Maddalena Forcella moved from Rome to Mexico 25 years ago and lived with Mayan communities in the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico. It was there that she forged relationships with many of the craftswomen and craftsmen that she continues to work with to this day. By collaborating with craftswomen and weavers, Maddalena brings new methods and materials to create unique, contemporary designs that celebrate ancient traditions.
