About Takeryo Kawaguchi

Takeryo Kawaguchi was born in Arita-cho, Saga Prefecture in 1974 and still lives and works in there in his workshop with an amazing Japanese garden in the front. Using mostly red clay, each of his works is glazed and wood-fired leaving marks where the ash has settled. His specialty revolves around patterns, where he etches into the surface of the pot, these simple techniques are in no way easy to master and we are very much in awe of his process.   He imbues each piece with a character that only ripens with time.
