Silversmith Georg Jensen founded his renowned, namesake tableware company in Copenhagen in 1904, and went on to entrust other designers with creating cutlery patterns. About Georg Jensen

Founded in Copenhagen in 1904 by Denmark’s preeminent silversmith, Georg Jensen strove out “to create democratic designs possessing both functionality and beauty.” Georg Jensen (1866-1935) trained in metalsmithing and the fine arts, and combined the two disciplines in the tradition of the artist craftsman. Jensen trusted his designers to follow their creativity, and in 1930 Gundorph Albertus created the iconic Cactus sterling silver flatware pattern, which combines simplicity with stylized Art Deco details. In true Georg Jensen style, the silverware pattern mixes floral flourishes with Scandinavian clarity.
