by Casey Zablocki
A monument in miniature, a testament, with a form in the mind that looms larger than life. A vase, sure, but more than a vase – this is a terminal shape, an end, a container for life itself.
Extra-earthen clay nubble body, with ash glazing.
Based in Montana, Casey Zablocki fires his pieces in a traditional wood anagama kiln, a technique he learned during a ceramic apprenticeship in Korea. This method produces a uniquely wild, pebbled, and rough finish on his unconventional work that probes the boundaries between sculpture, function, and art.
